🇮🇹 Application Process and Critical Updates from Türkiye

Italy is among the first choices of Turkish students with its world-class quality in conservatory and university education. However, as of 2026, Italian consulates and brokerage agencies (iData) went to some important updates in their application process.

As Crocus Administrative & Linguistic Services, we have summarized for you the golden rules and 2026 procedures you need to know so that you can manage your application process smoothly.

📅 1. Appointment System and Early Planning

The average time to find an appointment for Italian student visa (Type D) applications in 2026 can be 4-6 weeks.

Critical Rule: As soon as you receive your pre-enrollment certificate, you should make an appointment at least 45 days before classes start.

Warning: “Last minute” is no longer possible. It can be almost impossible to find an appointment in the July-August rush; your destination should be May-Early June.

💰 2. Proof of Financial Adequacy (2026 Current Amounts)

The consulate requires the student to prove that he can make a living during his stay in Italy.

Block Account Obligation: Many consulates now require the student to show the annual living expenses (from approximately €6,000 to €7,000, depending on the city) as a “block account” in a bank in Italy or that this amount be held in the sponsor account in Türkiye for at least 6 months.

Attention: The sum deposited into the account at the last moment can be rejected on the grounds. Your financial history is at least as important as the visa process.

🏠 3. Accommodation and “Declaration of Value”

Address Statement: In the visa application, a certified dormitory document or lease contract must be submitted for the first year. Hotel reservations are invalid for student visa.

DoV (Declaration of Value): The “Declaration of Value” document is required for the recognition of your school registration by the Italian authorities. This document should sometimes be obtained by the school and sometimes by the student from the education unit of the Italian Consulate. As Crocus, we follow this process on your behalf.

🛂 4. Health insurance

According to the rules of the Schengen area, private health insurance with a guarantee of at least €30,000, covering all Italian borders and covering all medical expenses, including repatriation (funeral transport), is mandatory. The duration of the insurance must cover the entire academic year.
